Orthotic Clinic

What is the Orthotic Clinic?

The Orthotic Clinic at St. Anthony's Medical Center is an opportunity for our patients who need or already have an orthosis to receive a multidisciplinary assessment.

After a patient has left the hospital, he or she will be able to obtain follow-up care through the Orthotic Clinic. The physician, physical therapist and orthotist assess patients to determine an appropriate new orthosis or necessary modifications to an existing orthosis. This approach, combined with additional services as needed, will help our patients achieve optimal functional recovery.

A Visit to the Orthotic Clinic

During a visit to the St. Anthony’s Orthotic Clinic, the focus may include any or all the following:

  • Skin evaluation
  • Fitting of the orthosis
  • Patient’s ability to put on and take off the orthosis
  • Patient’s ability to transfer
  • Standing with an orthosis
  • Walking with an orthosis

In addition, the patient may also be provided with information and contacts for other services available, such as outpatient dietitians, diabetic educators, and skin/wound nurses.

This “one-stop shopping" provides convenience for our patients, and a comprehensive approach to our patients’ care. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 314-525-4522.
