Commitment to Quality

Functional Health

In the past, health services were viewed as aiming to save lives. However, health care providers spend most of their time attempting to improve the quality of their patients' lives in a physical, psychological or social capacity.

This is known as "functional health status." At St. Anthony's, we use well-constructed measures to determine reliable answers to subjective concepts, such as:

  • Physical
  • Mental
  • Perceived well-being (quality of life)

By measuring health outcomes one treatment at a time, we can look at the extent to which a treatment restores a patient to his or her usual function.
